Attica: Liberation of Avlaki Beach (Porto Rafti)

Posted by ΚΙΝΗΜΑΤΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΑ ΚΑΤΩ Πέμπτη, Ιουλίου 07, 2011

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011: The people who participate in the nationwide movement ‘Den Plirono’ (I won’t pay!) have escalated their struggle for free public social commodities, and carried out one more up-to-date action: They liberated the beach Avlaki in Porto Rafti for over three hours. The perimeter fencing of the beach does not allow people to enjoy the obvious right to free access to the shore without a ticket. This unacceptable status quo applies in many other beaches in Attica, but also across Greece.

We urge the working and unemployed people who see their rights being mangled to death before the altar of the repayment of the usurious debt in the country, to stop paying the unjust levy of entrance to the beaches and any other levy imposed on them.

During the route from Athens to Porto Rafti and their return, people of ‘Den Plirono’ opened the tolls of Attica Tollway letting thousands of drivers pass freely from this highway which is already paid through taxes.
